Great speculation on a period that I wish we didn't have to speculate so much on (!).
I wonder if any of the Quicksilver sets were taped ? This is from that great second, "Happy Trails" , line-up . It would be a sweet dream come true if a whole evening of this paring surfaced . Oh Well .

Yes, this is something I've thought about too. Because the Dead carried on for so long, got so big & popular, and had a huge tape-trading fan base, we get an incomplete picture of those Pigpen-era shows where the Dead were just part of the package. Surely if they went with the flow on certain nights, it would be useful to know & hear what other bands shared the stage and what they performed and how well, etc. I'd love to see some multi-disc sets of complete shows from the Avalon, Family Dog, Fillmore, et al. with everybody included -- I guess Owsley/Bear made recordings of many bands which are only now (in this century) leaking out. I'd like to hear more. More! I must have more!
